Azul is part of the body of work entitled distortions. When I made this sculpture, I was reflecting on movement and the passing of time. I was looking for a way to visually represent the motion and trajectory of a person walking from one place to another.
In Azul, I used visual distortion to imply movement in a static sculpture. Through this I was able to condense various movements into one frame and convey motion. I wanted to create a static sculpture that embodies the passing of time -the past and the future.
